Despite the cloud cover, I was able to at least get one semi-decent photo of tonight's eclipse. With this being the only total lunar eclipse since 2022, I would have felt bad if I didn't at least make an attempt to capture it.
A total lunar eclipse happens when the sun, moon and Earth align, with Earth being in the middle, leading the earth to cast a shadow on the moon. The red hue of the moon is why it is referred to as a "blood moon". The name "worm moon" comes from the 1760's when Captain John Carver visited the various Native American tribes and referenced a type of beetle larvae which started to emerge from tree bark that began to thaw once winter was over and spring began.
